Cowboys and Aliens B-
I don’t plan on going into huge detail with these reviews because I’d hate to spoil anything for anyone…if I’m gonna do that, I’ll be courteous enough to post *spoiler alert* above the review. ;) I just plan on giving enough information to express my own personal opinion of movies for those who want one.
Okay, so....I absolutely love the idea of this movie. It's totally cheesy and lame, but I'm a huge fan of alien movies and I love cowboys, so mixing the two worlds under a sort of "cowboys and indians" premise sounded like an awesome idea for a mediocre but entertaining movie! I was spot on. I absolutely loved the fact that they cast Olivia Wilde in the lead female role…not necessarily because she had any special “old western” talent…just because she’s gorgeous and I quite enjoyed watching her cute face. And Daniel Craig wasn’t too bad himself in those cute chaps. Also…I’m a huge Harrison Ford fan in general. But really….he didn’t do that good of a job in the movie. He was actually pretty pathetically cheesy in his role as the heartless, angry, rich cowboy. His acting was okay, I guess…maybe the storyline just screwed him over.
So basically…the characters had no depth, the storyline was pretty predictable, and the aliens weren’t very scary at all. That’s all I can think of to say without giving away the plot word for word. I guess that might be what made it good, though. I expected cheesy and predictable…and that’s exactly what I got. So I’m happy. It was money well-spent. We had a good time…probably won’t buy it, but glad we saw it.
